Information for reporting absences, arranging student pick-up, managing appointments and following school attendance procedures.

Contact the Attendance Office

Families may use any of the following methods to communicate attendance information.

Text 608-492-1340 Phone 608-526-1369 Email eicjen@holmen.k12.wi.us
10 Parent days

Save parent-excused days when possible

Parents and guardians may excuse a student from school for up to 10 days each school year. Obtain a provider’s note for medical, dental and eye appointments so the absence can be recorded as medically excused without using one of those days.

Please communicate directly with the Attendance Office

When picking up your student or responding to a request from your student to leave school, please contact the Attendance Office directly. Please do not rely only on texting your student that you have arrived or agreeing by text to pick them up. Direct communication with the office helps staff confirm where students are, why they are in the office and that they have permission to leave.

Student pick-up

Hassle-free student pick-up

Notify the Attendance Office by 8:15 a.m. whenever possible to allow time for passes to be delivered. Parents and guardians do not need to come inside when the office has been notified in advance.

Item drop-off

Secure item drop-off

If you need to drop off an item for your student during the school day, please use the Main Office Entrance (Door E). Clearly label the item with your student’s first and last name.

Attendance procedures

Select a topic below to review the related procedure.

Student absences

Please notify the Attendance Office when your student will be absent. Families may text 608-492-1340, call 608-526-1369 or email eicjen@holmen.k12.wi.us.

Please include your student’s first and last name and the reason for the absence.

Appointments during the school day

Please notify the Attendance Office if your student has an appointment during the school day. Once the office hears from a parent or guardian, staff can prepare a dismissal pass for the student.

Whenever possible, please contact the office by 8:15 a.m. to allow time for the pass to be delivered.

Please also notify the Attendance Office if your student has an appointment before school.

Dropping off or picking up a student

Notify the Attendance Office directly when dropping off or picking up your student during the school day. When the office has been notified in advance, parents and guardians do not need to enter the building to pick up their student.

Please do not rely solely on texting your student that you have arrived. The Attendance Office must hear directly from a parent or guardian before a student can be dismissed.

Dropping off items

If you need to drop off an item for your student during the school day, please use the Main Office Entrance (Door E).

Please clearly label the item with your student’s first and last name.

Parent-excused days

Parents and guardians may excuse a student from school for up to 10 days each school year. These days are used for illnesses, vacations, sports not affiliated with the school and other absences or appointments that are not medically excused.

For medical, dental or eye appointments, families are strongly encouraged to obtain a provider’s note. This allows the absence to be medically excused without using one of the 10 parent days.

After the 10-day limit has been exceeded, additional absences may be marked unexcused.

Vacations and trips of three or more days

If your student will miss three or more school days for a vacation or trip, please notify the Attendance Office in advance.

Advance notice gives the school time to properly record the absence and helps your student communicate with teachers about missed classwork.
